Westside’s Cooks & Soldiers Gets Inspiration from Basque Country

westside-cooks-and-soldiersFrom the same owners as the Iberian Pig in Decatur, Cooks & Soldiers gets its inspiration from the culture of Basque Country in Spain and France. It’s named after the annual festival of Tamborrada in San Sebastian. The citizens of San Sebastian dress up as either cooks of soldiers and parade through the streets every January for a 24-hour city-wide celebration.

On the menu, the Pintxos Tradicionales are their appetizers, which are served atop toasted bread. The tomato tartare, the smoked duck confit, and the Basque omelette are among the favorites.

They also have Basque small plates, or Pintxos Especiales, as well as large plates of meat and seafood to share.

Cooks & Soldiers is located at 691 14th St. across from Ormsbys. To learn more about restaurants in Westside, click here.
