The part of Marietta Street which runs for Howell Mill Rd. to Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard is getting repaved and adding bike lanes. It will also get a protected center lane. There will also be upgrades to the sidewalks.
The plans (part of the Renew Atlanta Bond Package) call for taking the existing four lanes—with two lanes in each direction—down to one lane in each direction It also calls for a center turn lane and dedicated five-foot-wide bike lanes on either side.
Additionally, the intersection with Howell Mill Road will be reconfigured, while existing parallel parking will be preserved south of the North Avenue bridge. For more about Westside developments, see here.
