A DIY (Do-It Yourself) Day will be held at the Northwest Branch at Scotts Crossing in Westside of Atlanta.
Kids are invited to participate in the event where they will use a variety of materials to make their own origami pieces. You will need to register beforehand. The part of Marietta Street which runs for Howell Mill Rd. to Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard is getting repaved and adding bike lanes. It will also get a protected center lane. There will also be upgrades to the sidewalks.
The plans (part of the Renew Atlanta Bond Package) call for taking the existing four lanes—with two lanes in each direction—down to one lane in each direction It also calls for a center turn lane and dedicated five-foot-wide bike lanes on either side.
Additionally, the intersection with Howell Mill Road will be reconfigured, while existing parallel parking will be preserved south of the North Avenue bridge. For more about Westside developments, see here.
The Westside’s Kolo Collection was featured in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The Kolo Collection, started by local married couple Michelle Larrabee-Martin and Greg Martin, is a premium outdoor furniture showroom that opened in 2003. They opened their second showroom in the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center.

A new restaurant called Howell’s is opening in the Westside. The 4,888 square foot restaurant will offer a pizza-focused menu, and will include entrees such as smoked baby back ribs, salmon filet, and steak frites. Chef Rob Phillip is behind the restaurants, backed by the Hearth Tavern Team, which also opened Atwoods Pizza, Hearth Tavern, and Camps Kitchen & Bar.
The exact location will be in the Howell Mill development in the Channing Valley neighborhood, at 1952 Howell Mill Road, which is a mix of new and renovated suites. This is at the corner intersection of Howell Mill Rd. and Collier Rd.

Plans were filed with the City of Atlanta for the buildout of a new coffee shop called Mashburn Coffee on the Westside. The shop would reside in Westside Provisions District mixed-use development.
The 1,816 square foot space which will be next to and owned by the Ann Mashburn Store, currently houses the boutique G. Gilbert.
There is so much going on in the Westside! It truly is the place to be in Atlanta right now!
On Saturday, September 15, the Friends of the Northwest Library is hosting their annual Fall Book Sale. It will be held from 4 – 6pm, and is open to everyone from toddlers to the elderly.

The Works at Chattahoochee is in the “works” in Westside. The plans have been put forth by Selig Development, and include an 80-acre mixed use development that will be over 1.5 million square feet and more than 40 structures. Divided out, it will be 500,000 square feet of retail, 600,000 square feet of offices, 500 residences, a 200-room boutique hotel and 13 acres of green space.
The project is inspired by Atlanta’s rich history of creative makers, skilled artisans, and forward-thinking entrepreneurs.
The first phase of the project will be finished in 2018 and will continue into the next 5-10 years. Costing $1 billion, The Works at Chattahoochee is located on Chattahoochee Industrial Avenue in West Midtown.
